Popular Toys: LEGO (Series 9)

LEGO, created on 1949 (official year), a toy that was created as a simple child's play thing but has now evolved into one of the leading toys that promotes child brain development in “construction”.

According to wikipedia, As of 2013, Around 560 Billion Lego parts had been produced.

This wonderful toy has been expanding its empire comprising of merchandise from its Toys, Clothes, Bags, Games (the list goes on and on) and is now hitting the big screens this 2014 (The LEGO Movie).

The thing that I believe makes this toy so popular is of its
  • Education Value (Developing child's imagination)
  • Its non gender specific
  • an innovation that never stops (from a very hands on toy to electronics)
I have several mini-figures but only got to purchase the whole series starting from series 8 to 10.

Searching the web for images, I never seem to find pictures that featured all the sides of the toy. Here are the complete set of pictures (with their names) that I took, for series 9 . Hope this would give you an in depth look at them and decide if you want to purchase them for your personal collection or gifts for your kids.

(Left to Right: Alien Avenger, Mr. Good and Evil & Battle Mech)

Pop Movie Review: Bride for Rent

After the success of the silver screen adaptation of the popular book "Bakit hindi ka crush ng crush mo?", Kim Chui and Xian Lim are back once again in this romantic comedy movie about a guy who needs a girl to pretend and act as his wife. At the first part of the trailer you would see that Xian Lim, with his friends, is conducting an audition for the said role. One of the auditionees is Kim Chui, which eventually gets  the role.

The trailer showed a lot of predictable scenes that would make you actually know what would happen next on the movie. This kind of  plot is something we have seen before in some of our local movies with a Korean romantic-comedy touch in it.

Kim Chui is surprisingly effective in playing "funny girl" roles, though she needs a little bit of flourishing for it to appears more natural. Xian Lim, with his looks and stature, is also effective in playing a serious yet lovable role for a leading man.

This is a movie that, yeah, I would watch in a cinema but will not put much effort on it. With the predictable plot I do not think this is the kind of movie that would leave you in awe after watching it. I have seen BHKCNCM in DVD, and it was not as good as I expected it to be and this one would be just the same.  But if I will be looking for just a feel good movie that would not really require me to use a lot of brain cells, I would go for this.

How about you, watcha think?

Phones are no longer restricted on Philippines' aircrafts.

According to rappler.com, phones can now be used on planes. CAAP confirmed this today. Yes, this is good news to those passengers who can not resist using their phones on board, whether it is for text, call, IM, selfies or simply passing the time by browsing the net while your thousands feet above.

Other countries, like USA and European Union also confirmed they would allow phones on their airplanes as well. There is still a small restriction though, the phones and other gadgets still need to be turned off during pre-flight, and still must wear earphones if listening to music.

So next time you will travel, you can already chitchat on the phone with your friends on land, or share your selfie pic in the plane real time, or maybe use your GPS locator to know your location while you are on the flight. Good news. :)

Movie Trailer Review: X-Men: Days of the Future Past

Based in a popular storyline of the comic book series, this storyline would include time travels and it's a sequel of X-Men:The Last Stand movie.

I've been a fan of X-Men since I was a kid, and I always anticipate it every time there is an X-Men movie. Surely, I am gonna watch this.

The trailer is pretty exciting, knowing that Magneto and Professor X are alive. That finally our favorite X-Men characters are back, like Storm, Ice Man and Mystique.

An all star cast film, with Hugh Jackman, Jennifer Lawrence and Halle Berry. Surely, this is one of the most anticipated movies of 2014.

Are you lucky this year of Wooden Horse?

Happy New Year!

This year, 2014, is the year of the Wooden Horse.

I am not really into chinese zodiacs and horoscopes, yet it would not hurt if somehow we would follow some things according to feng shui.

I compiled some infos that i learned for the year of the wooden horse.

According to www.au.ibtimes.com, those who were born under this year, including Tiger, Dragon, Snake and Boar would be lucky in financial wealth. "This year will be a year of competitiveness and of jealousy, back stabbing and insecurities but it will also be a one of good relationships. The thing with this year is that it is of the wooden horse which represents stability, power, urgency, stubbornness, narrow mindedness, hostility, perseverance and independence."

According to www.futurescopes.com, "In Chinese astrology, the Horse is a sign marked by energy, action and a general optimism in life. When associated with an element like Wood, all these traits take on a deeper and more humane attitude. This is because Wood according to Chinese astrology is believed to make a sign more philosophical as well as compassionate in nature."

So what would be the best color to wear this year?  Lucky colors are blue, brown and yellow.

Here are the horoscopes for all the zodiacs: (courtesy of chinese.horoscopes.com)

"Those born in Tiger, Horse, or Dogs years will enjoy a boost of cheerfulness that makes you quite popular. You'll have more fun with friends old and new. Positive feedback enhances self-confidence. Share your thoughts. Social networking will allow you to spread your influence.

Those born in Rat, Dragon, and Monkey years have permission to work less and play more. You'll be willing to take more risks to get what you want. Your intuition is strong and creative juices are flowing! Even though you like to take the lead, it will be easier to be a team player.

Those born in Ox, Snake, and Rooster years will use patience and determination to support a foundation for success. What you sense about people and environments will be quite accurate. People are drawn to you. It's an ideal year for research and developing your skills in any area of interest.

Those born in Rabbit, Goat, or Pig years will be well respected for their kindness. You'll play a quiet but vital role in any group or family activity. Step out of your comfort zone and embrace life to the fullest. Anything that brings you joy is where to focus more time and attention."

Have a happy and blessed 2014! I love you guys. :)

Kim Chui is Dyesebel?

The guessing game is over. Some guessed it would be Kristine Hermosa, Anne Curtis, KC Concepcion, Jessy Mendiola, Cristine Reyes or Bea Alonzo.

But today, on her report on the Philippine Star, Salve Asis confirmed that Kim Chui is the new Dyesebel.

The show for sure would be part of the Primetime Bida. Though there is no confirmation yet from the Philippines' No. 1 network, it is rumored that Fredo ( Dyesebel's love interest) will be played by Xian Lim, Kim Chui's loveteam.

The "couple" just  finished shooting their new movie, Bride for Rent and rumor has it that Kim Chui is already training for the mermaid role.

What do you think about this? Would be a "tsinita" Dyesebel is appropriate for the adaptation of the network of the well loved mermaid created by Mars Ravelo. Is Kim Chui deserving to be Dyesebel such as the like of Vilma Santos, Alice Dixon, Charlene Gonzales and Marian Rivera?

Update: According to fashionpulis.com, Kim Chui denied on Instagram that she is the next Dyesebel.

Gensan girl turned beauty queen Shamcey Supsup tied the knot.

Today, at 2 pm the Miss Universe-Philippines 2011 and Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner up got hitched with her boyfriend for 2 years, Lloyd Lee. The wedding was held in Church of the Risen Lord, in UP Diliman ( where she obtained her degree for Architecture graduating as a Magna Cum Laude).

According to www.gmanetwork.com, the couple became emotional during the wedding especially when they have taken their vows. Among the guests are her beauty queen friends like Ariella Arida, Bianca Manalo and Venus Raj. And of course, Madam Stella Araneta was present as well, as a godmother for the couple. The reception was held in Edsa Shangrila Hotel.

I am happy some people still have their happy endings. With a lot of marriages ending in showbiz, this kind of news makes my heart glad. A beauty and brain like Shamcey would have attract a lot of suitors and she could enjoy her single life first and focus on her career. But I guess, when love knocks, and you think you really found the one, you just have to follow your heart.

Shamcey and I are both from Gensan, well, what can I say, southern belles are really for keeps. :)

Beyonce': The Self- Titled Album.

After she surprised us in her "Love on Top" performance at the 2011 VMA with an intro " I want you to feel the love that is growing inside of me", and revealed that she's "prego", and the surprise reunion performance with the other two members of the Destiny's Child in this year's Superbowl halftime show, the Queen B did it again. On December 13. 2013, on a friday the 13th, she dropped hew new self- titled album.

The album was secretly recorded in the Hamptons. Among the "culprits" is her hubby Jay Z, and other artists like Timbaland and Justin Timberlake. Beyonce', a visual album, is a digital album and also comes in DVD with 17 music videos dropped at the same time. Crazy, right? Even Lady Gaga or Katy Perry would never think of anything like that, only B, the Queen.

The album cost $11.99USD in iTunes and according to likes.com, it is the fastest selling album in iTunes history, whoa!

My personal favorites are Pretty Hurts and Drunk In Love.

The other 12 songs are:

Michael Schumacher is in a critical condition!!!

According to CBCSports, the retired F1 World Champion Winner met an accident while skiing with his son on the French Alps yesterday, December 29. And @inquirerdotnet tweeted, as of 9:50 am today, that Schumacher is still in coma.

Updated today, December 31,2013 as of 6:45pm, Manila time. According to @abscbnews via twitter that the athlete condition is better but he is still not out of danger.

Well, I hope he would survive. This is a bad thing to start the new year for Schumacher, but that is really the risk of doing extreme sports, wait!, is skiing an extreme sport (?), I don't know I live in the tropics so I do not have any idea. (lol)

Celebrity "Face-Sake": Michelle Williams and Adelaide Clemens.

As I am watching the 2013 Wrap Up Special in Star Movies tonight featuring the movie Silent Hill: Revelation, I could not help to notice the resemblance of Adelaide to the Dawson's Creek star.

Williams became famous for her role in the late 90's tv series as Jen Lindley. To know more about her click here.

Clemens  is 9 years younger than Williams so it would be impossible for them to become twins. She also appeared in the movie The Great Gatsby with Leonardo di Caprio. And Williams played the iconic actress Marilyn Monroe in the movie My Week with Marilyn.

Check this out.

So what do you think, do they look alike?  Is it a Yay or a Nay?

Best customer experience award goes to GLOBE

I was checking my facebook newsfeeds today and this article caught my attention. Click here for the article.

GLOBE, yes as in the one of the Philippines largest telco  bagged the best customer experience award from 2013 World Communication Awards. Well, Congratulations!. But I must confess, I am surprised. I don't call customer service hotlines that much, I am a prepaid Globe user, but when I called Globe before I must say that I did not get that best customer service experience they are talking about. It's not that I experienced a bad service from them, but I found it just soso.

Well as to my friends, who were also Globe users, they said they had really really bad experiences with Globe's Customer Service. I think the word customer service in general, does not only apply to the Customer service hotline, of course there is the website and also the kiosks and the centers which also offer assistance for frustrated, irate and not-so-smart customers.

Well I would like to check if this time, if I will call them, they will offer me a world class customer service experience. I will ask them some basic questions and let's see if I will have one.  Here is the video.

My verdict:

Well, I would like to have a brief comment about the customer service I just experienced. I think the representative was not friendly, she is kind of hurrying up and she also interrupted me. I am not truly familiar about roaming, so I have no idea if she was really giving me the correct infos. However, I was kind of disappointed when she can't send those instructions to me and she just let me take note of it. I mean, those instructions are hard to follow to most filipino customers.

Well maybe, I am just one of the unlucky few, who did not experience the World Class Customer service of Globe. Nevertheless, I would still like to congratulate Globe once again for making it, for beating other networks like Smart, Sun and other international telcos. Job well done. :)

The Mind Museum Experience

"It feels like grade school once again. "

In the heart of Bonifacio Global City lies a place where every family can spend their weekends (even weekdays) together. The Mind Museum is a place of learning and fun. You can explore, experience and learn science once again. For 600 php for adults ( tickets for kids cost less of course, but I forgot how much), you can tour the museum for 3 hours. I went there today and it was kind of awkward because everybody, I think, has kids with them. So if you are thinking of going, and if you don't have kids, maybe you can bring your nephew or niece or maybe borrow someone's kid as a prop.

I arrived there today around 2:00ish pm and the next schedule for the tour was 3pm. So while waiting for the tour, I went to Jollibee to eat. After I ate,  I went inside of Science in the Park which is available while you are waiting for the actual tour to start. If you don't want to take the tour and just want to go to the the park, you have to buy a 100php worth of ticket and you can stay there all you want.

At around 3:00ish pm we went inside and I was kind of impressed with how they run the place. The guides are friendly and the place is amazing. So we had a small talk with the guides and a little introduction from a robot they named "Aedi" which is taken from the word "Idea" just spelled backwards, how creative! :)

So after the small orientation we went inside in groups then we can just explore the place, which is for me better than if there is someone showing you the place and giving a boring discussion about everything.

The place has two floors but most of the interesting things are in the first floor.

If you get tired and want to sit for a while or thirsty or hungry there is a small canteen on the second floor.

And if you're done exploring the place, you can buy merchandises before you exit.

For more photos about our tour, you may check it here.

For more details you may visit their official website.
