Pop Movie Review: Bride for Rent

After the success of the silver screen adaptation of the popular book "Bakit hindi ka crush ng crush mo?", Kim Chui and Xian Lim are back once again in this romantic comedy movie about a guy who needs a girl to pretend and act as his wife. At the first part of the trailer you would see that Xian Lim, with his friends, is conducting an audition for the said role. One of the auditionees is Kim Chui, which eventually gets  the role.

The trailer showed a lot of predictable scenes that would make you actually know what would happen next on the movie. This kind of  plot is something we have seen before in some of our local movies with a Korean romantic-comedy touch in it.

Kim Chui is surprisingly effective in playing "funny girl" roles, though she needs a little bit of flourishing for it to appears more natural. Xian Lim, with his looks and stature, is also effective in playing a serious yet lovable role for a leading man.

This is a movie that, yeah, I would watch in a cinema but will not put much effort on it. With the predictable plot I do not think this is the kind of movie that would leave you in awe after watching it. I have seen BHKCNCM in DVD, and it was not as good as I expected it to be and this one would be just the same.  But if I will be looking for just a feel good movie that would not really require me to use a lot of brain cells, I would go for this.

How about you, watcha think?
