Pop Recipe: Hotdog and Shrimp Gumbo Pinoy Style.

Gumbo is an american dish originated from the state of Louisiana. Now I made my own version with a filipino touch. 

Last  night I cooked this meal for dinner and I must say, it's very tasty and delicious. Here are the steps how to cook this hearty meal.

Preparation time: 30 minutes.

Cook time: 1 hour

Good for 4 servings.

Ingrediens:

4 slices of okra (sliced)
1/4 kilo of shrimp
2 pcs. of banana (saba) (diced)
5 leaves of pechay (filipino bokchoi)
1 large onion (chopped)
5 gloves of garlic (chopped)
5 small tomatoes (diced)
5 pieces of calamansi (juiced and seeds are removed)
5 beefies hotdogs (sliced)
half cup of tomato catsup
3 tbsp of vegetable oil
2 cups of water
1 tbsp of maggi magic sarap
1 tbsp of pepper




Cooking time:

  • Heat the saucepan in low heat (140 degree C). 
  • Put the oil. 
  • Sautee the onion and the garlic for 2 minutes.
  • Add the okra. Cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add 1 cup water
  • Add catsup, tomato and banana. Mix thoroughly and simmer for 5 minutes. Increased heat to 240 degree C.
  • Add petchay. Simmer for 2 min. Decrease heat to 200 degree C.
  • Add the shrimps and calamansi juice.
  • Add maggi magic sarap and pepper.
  • Simmer for 7 minutes until shrimp is cooked. Voila!
